This page lists Female Eating Disorders Psychotherapists in London. 12 in all.
That is 12 of the 13 psychotherapists listed in London.
These are practitioners who identify as female on their profile 1. We ask every therapist that question, and they may decline to answer. We do not check the answer, and nothing here is ranked.
This list answers an explicit request for a woman. While many people prefer this, we found no research on whether it changes how the therapy goes.
A client and a practitioner always differ; what matters is what that means to you and how you work with it 2. You can filter the same list by the languages a practitioner works in.
What eating disorder treatment involves
Eating disorders affect eating, weight and how a person sees their body 3. They carry physical risk as well as psychological.
Effective treatments exist, including family-based treatment. Treatments used also include eating-disorder-focused cognitive behavioural therapy and MANTRA 4.
Specialist supportive clinical management is another. Interpersonal psychotherapy is an option in bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder 5.
Families are usually involved rather than kept out. Care is often shared with a doctor.
What psychotherapy works on, and how long it usually runs
Everyone on this page describes their work as psychotherapy. A psychotherapist works through talking with you about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours 6.
Psychotherapy usually runs longer than counselling and aims for clinical change. It works on patterns that repeat rather than on one current problem.
A psychotherapist trains in psychological treatment rather than in medicine. What that training covers, and which approach a practitioner uses, differ between practitioners. Ask which approach a psychotherapist trained in, and how long they usually work.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Female identity, the specialism recorded as Eating Disorders and the professional title psychotherapist.
