This page lists Female Autism Psychotherapists in London. 5 in all.
That is 5 of the 8 psychotherapists listed in London.
These are practitioners who identify as female on their profile 1. We ask every therapist that question, and they may decline to answer. We do not check the answer, and nothing here is ranked.
This list answers an explicit request for a woman. While many people prefer this, we found no research on whether it changes how the therapy goes.
A client and a practitioner always differ; what matters is what that means to you and how you work with it 2. You can filter the same list by the languages a practitioner works in.
What support for autistic people involves, and what it is not for
Autism is a diverse group of conditions related to the development of the brain 3. Abilities and needs vary, and they can change over time. Autism is often not identified until well after early childhood.
Support may mean assessment, or help with anxiety or low mood alongside the autism. It may mean changes to how therapy itself is done.
Therapy does not set out to remove autism. Ask a practitioner what experience they have with autistic people.
What psychotherapy works on, and how long it usually runs
Everyone on this page describes their work as psychotherapy. A psychotherapist works through talking with you about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours 4.
Psychotherapy usually runs longer than counselling and aims for clinical change. It works on patterns that repeat rather than on one current problem.
A psychotherapist trains in psychological treatment rather than in medicine. What that training covers, and which approach a practitioner uses, differ between practitioners. Ask which approach a psychotherapist trained in, and how long they usually work.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Female identity, the specialism recorded as Autism and the professional title psychotherapist.
