I am a Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Couples Therapist with over 10 years of experience, offering online therapy for individuals, couples, and families. My work is especially informed by neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, and learning differences, and I support clients with a range of related emotional and relational difficulties. I offer a warm, thoughtful, and integrative approach, grounded in compassion, trust, and a deep respect for each person’s unique experience.

About Me

I’m Maya Tomse, a Psychologist and Couples Therapist with over 10 years of experience, working online with individuals, couples, and families. My work is especially focused on neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, and learning differences such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, and Dysnomia. I also support clients experiencing anxiety, burnout, low mood, OCD, and depression, particularly where these experiences overlap with relationship or family difficulties. You do not need a diagnosis to seek support. Many of the people I work with come to therapy because they have felt different, overwhelmed, or misunderstood for a long time, and want a space where their experience can be explored with care, curiosity, and compassion. I am particularly drawn to working with couples and families where neurodivergence may be present but not yet fully understood. Often, each person experiences things differently, and family life can begin to feel strained, intense, or chaotic. My hope is to offer a calm, thoughtful space where difficulties can be better understood, and where more connection, clarity, and practical support can begin to emerge.

Approach

My approach is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic models depending on the needs of the individual, couple, or family I am working with. Whatever approach I use, the foundation of my work is always the relationship we build together, as trust, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose are central to meaningful therapeutic change. I often integrate Psychodynamic, Emotion-Focused, and Person-Centred approaches, alongside Attachment Theory and Family Systems thinking. This helps me support clients in exploring present emotions, relational patterns, earlier experiences, and the wider dynamics that may be shaping current difficulties. I also bring in Solution-Focused and psychoeducational elements where helpful, particularly when supporting clients around relationships, neurodiversity, and life transitions. My aim is to offer a space that feels thoughtful, compassionate, and practically supportive.

Basic Information

Services

At my online therapy practice, I offer couples therapy, individual therapy, and, where appropriate, family therapy. **Couples therapy** can offer a supportive and confidential space for you and your partner to slow things down and begin making sense of what may be feeling difficult, painful, or stuck between you. I work with couples navigating a wide range of relational challenges, including those shaped by neurodivergence such as ADHD, Autism, and learning differences. In many relationships, neurodivergence can influence communication, emotional regulation, overwhelm, sensory needs, intimacy, family life, and the ways each partner feels understood. As your couples therapist, I help create a space where both of your experiences can be explored with care and respect. Together, we work towards a deeper understanding of each other’s needs, differences, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Whether you are hoping to strengthen your relationship, find a more workable way of being together, or make sense of whether to continue or part, therapy can offer valuable support and clarity. **Individual therapy** can be a meaningful space for personal growth, healing, and deeper self-understanding. Many people come to individual therapy carrying a sense of overwhelm, burnout, anxiety, low mood, relational pain, or the feeling that life has somehow always felt harder than it seems to for others. Sometimes this is connected to neurodivergence, whether recognised already or only just beginning to come into awareness. I work with individuals living with or exploring ADHD, Autism, and learning differences, as well as related challenges such as OCD, depression, and emotional exhaustion. Through our work together, we can begin to understand the roots of your difficulties, the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and the inner resources that may have been harder to access. My role is to listen carefully, think with you, and support you in moving towards greater clarity, self-compassion, and meaningful change. **Family therapy** may be helpful where family relationships are feeling particularly strained, misunderstood, or overwhelmed, especially when neurodivergence is part of the family dynamic. In some families, different needs, sensitivities, communication styles, and emotional responses can create a sense of chaos or disconnection at home. Family therapy can provide a space to better understand one another, reduce blame, and support more workable ways of relating. Because this work can be complex, family therapy can only be booked once this has first been discussed and agreed with me through individual or couples work. Whether you are seeking support as an individual, a couple, or, where appropriate, as a family, I aim to offer a thoughtful, compassionate space where difficulties can be explored with depth, care, and practical understanding. My hope is to support you towards greater self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, and more connected relationships.
