Texas gathers mental health licensing under the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, which licenses psychologists, professional counsellors, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists and school psychology specialists through one body. An associate licence there means board-approved supervision rather than independent practice. Psychiatrists are licensed separately by the Texas Medical Board, and behaviour analysts by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

That only applies if your plan has out-of-network benefits, and only after the deductible, and some plans have none at all. Yes. Confidentiality is the condition that makes the rest of therapy possible. A registered practitioner works inside an ethical code that requires them to keep what you say private.

Someone who belongs to a professional body is bound by that body's code as well. The limits are narrow. They commonly include a serious and immediate danger to you or to another person, and abuse of a child or of a vulnerable adult.
