What therapy costs in Barbados
Barbados runs its community mental health clinics inside the polyclinic network. Primary care is delivered from the polyclinics and their satellite clinics. The clinics are sessional, so each polyclinic holds one on named days rather than every day. Check the day before travelling.
The Paramedical Professions Act sets registration fees and says nothing about what practitioners charge a patient. The National Council on Substance Abuse also counsels people dealing with mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress and anger.

Registration and licensing
In Barbados the Paramedical Professions Act, Cap. 372C, makes three psychology professions registrable: clinical, counselling and educational psychology. Counselling on its own is not one of them. The Paramedical Professions Council registers psychologists under the Paramedical Professions Act, Cap.
372C, and a practitioner must register with it before practising in Barbados. The Registrar of the Supreme Court keeps the register, and you can inspect it at the Registration Office. Each profession has its own part of the register.
Practising a listed profession without registration is an offence. So is practising a listed profession other than the one your registration covers. The Act places psychotherapeutic treatment within clinical psychology, so ask which of the three a practitioner holds.
