This page lists Female Addiction Psychotherapists in Nairobi. 4 in all.
That is 4 of the 6 psychotherapists listed in Nairobi.
These are practitioners who identify as female on their profile 1. We ask every therapist that question, and they may decline to answer. We do not check the answer, and nothing here is ranked.
This list answers an explicit request for a woman. While many people prefer this, we found no research on whether it changes how the therapy goes.
A client and a practitioner always differ; what matters is what that means to you and how you work with it 2. You can filter the same list by the languages a practitioner works in.
What addiction treatment covers
Addiction covers alcohol, other drugs, and behaviours such as gambling. Psychological treatment is only one part of addiction care.
Screening, brief intervention and treatment all exist for hazardous drinking 3. Those services do not reach most of the people who need them.
Treatments used include cognitive behavioural and behavioural therapies 4. Some work through a person's social network and environment.
Guidelines recommend a range of treatments for opioid dependence 5. Those include maintenance treatment with methadone or buprenorphine, alongside psychosocial treatment and support.
Detoxification alone is not treatment 6. Ask a practitioner what they treat, and where they refer.
What psychotherapy works on, and how long it usually runs
Everyone on this page describes their work as psychotherapy. A psychotherapist works through talking with you about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours 7.
Psychotherapy usually runs longer than counselling and aims for clinical change. It works on patterns that repeat rather than on one current problem.
A psychotherapist trains in psychological treatment rather than in medicine. What that training covers, and which approach a practitioner uses, differ between practitioners. Ask which approach a psychotherapist trained in, and how long they usually work.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Female identity, the specialism recorded as Addiction and the professional title psychotherapist.
Fees, insurance and lower-cost options

Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital - General Mental Health Outpatient Services. Phone +254 20 2337694. Kenya's Social Health Authority covers mental health care in its benefits package. Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital is accredited by the Authority and says so in its own public material. To use that cover you must be registered with the Authority, and what it pays for is set by its benefit rules. The hospital runs an ordinary outpatient clinic from Monday to Friday. Ring the hospital's enquiries line to arrange an appointment. It is an enquiries line, not a crisis line.
The Nairobi page answers more questions about therapy there.
