1. Do you feel excessively angry when you think of bad/ unpleasant things or people?
2. Do you say or do hurtful things to a person during the argument or thereafter?
3. Do you find it hard to forgive someone who has done a bad or unpleasant thing?
4. Do you find yourself angry when you lose control of your emotions?
5. Do you find yourself regretting something frequently? Hating yourself? Or feeling guilty?
6. Do you (or others) think that you are often angry?
7. Do you think that your angry is impacting your relationships?
What Causes Anger
Concerns from personal and professional lives can cause issues. These include relationship problems, family problems, problems at work, financial problems etc. sometimes dealing with these issues can lead to stress for an individual and this, in turn, may drive anger issues.
Types of Anger
It is not necessarily that every individual expresses their anger. Based on the expression, anger can be divided into inward, outward and passive
1. Inward Anger Expression
This person usually keeps anger with themselves. They end up trying to punish themselves. They hold back their expression by thinking about the impact expressing their anger will have on others or they fear other consequences.
2. Outward Anger Expression
In this type, a person usually expresses anger without holding back. It may include saying or doing hurtful, harmful things.
3. Passive Anger Expression
This approach includes indirect aggressive expression, e.g., the silent treatment, being sarcastic, or criticising the actions of another person.
Impact of Anger
Anger issues may have physical and emotional impacts. Physical impacts may include Blood pressure issues and heart rate issues. Stress, anxiety, frustration, and guilt are examples of emotional impacts.
How to Deal With Anger Issues
1. Wait Before You Respond
Responding during the heat of the moment is generally harmful, as it is easy to act irrationally. Delaying your response can help you better to understand the situation and respond empathetically and logically.
2. Avoid The Conflict
See if you can avoid the conflict at an early stage only. In case you can't avoid it, but can anticipate it, think it through before responding. This helps to prepare yourself to handle the situation in a better way.
3. Resolve The Conflict With A Calm Mind
Respond when you are in a calm mindset. Allow yourself time to calm down. This includes not reacting or saying anything during the heat of the moment. Once you are calm, reinitiate the discussion and try to calmly put your side forward.
4. Meditate
Meditation helps to control anger. You can choose any meditation you like.
5. Let Go
Forgiveness is a powerful tool when dealing with feelings and helps to decrease anger. Letting go is always better for you.
6. Get Professional Help
