Find a Therapist In Costa Rica

Costa Rica has 6 therapists listed on TherapyRoute.

The list includes chartered psychologists, psychologists and certified professional counsellors.

Practitioners here are spread across a number of places rather than gathered in one. Each city below carries its own list. You can also filter for practitioners who work by video, wherever they are.

Costa Rica's professional college of psychologists sets minimum tariffs and publishes them in the official gazette, La Gaceta. Its members are obliged to charge in line with them. Charging above the minimum is allowed, and charging below it is exceptional.

The public route starts at the first level of integrated care in the CCSS. The National Mental Health Act, Ley 10412, puts early detection and referral there. The same article ties that duty to what the institution can afford.

Licensing arrangements for therapy differ a great deal from one country to the next, and for Costa Rica TherapyRoute cannot point you to a national register to check a practitioner against. Ask a practitioner what training they completed, what title they use, and whether they hold a registration anywhere, then ask to see it.
