Miss Risuna Mathebula

Counseling Psychologist

I am a registered Counselling Psychologist. I am experienced in psychotherapy with individuals, working with children and parents (Child Psychotherapy-under 5, Latency, Adolescents & Complex needs), Parent-infant Psychotherapy, Family therapy and Infant Mental Health.

About Me

I offer psychotherapy to individuals and families, helping them navigate life's complexities. My experience supports infants, parents, children of all ages, adolescents, and adults. This broad understanding allows me to tailor support, recognising how early experiences shape later life. We can explore feelings and dynamics together, fostering resilience and clear communication for lasting well-being.

Approach

Sessions blend attuned play, focused dialogue and careful observation to link early experiences with present difficulties, guiding understanding without rush. In my Durban practice and online I work in English, Sesotho, Xitsonga and isiZulu, aiming for a calm, accessible space where families and individuals feel understood. Therapy moves at each person’s pace—playful and contained for young children, reflective and practical for adolescents and adults—with short between-session tasks to practise safety and regulation. This approach often fits those seeking clear, steady support after loss, trauma or relational strain.
