Find a Therapist in Munster

The list includes clinical psychologists, psychologists and psychological counsellors.

Start with the cities below. Each city page lists the practitioners who work there.

In Germany the question is usually which insurance you have rather than what a therapist charges. Statutory health insurance covers prescribed psychotherapy with no co-payment for the sessions, and the system's own standard treats waiting more than three months as unreasonable.

If no covered therapy place is found, your insurer can agree in advance to reimburse a private practice, on documented evidence of the failed search. The Patientenservice 116117 arranges appointments with psychotherapists for people with statutory insurance.

Not every licensed psychotherapist can bill statutory insurance. A Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie holds a different permit, not a psychotherapist licence, and normally cannot bill statutory insurance.

Paying privately, fees are set by each practitioner and rarely published, so ask the rate per session before you begin.

In Germany the title to look for is Psychotherapeut. Only a state-licensed person may use it, and that licence is the Approbation, granted under the Psychotherapeutengesetz. Since September 2020 the licence carries the title Psychotherapeutin or Psychotherapeut.

Practitioners licensed before then keep their older titles, Psychologischer Psychotherapeut or Kinder- und Jugendlichenpsychotherapeut. Someone described as Psychologe holds a psychology degree rather than a treatment licence.

A Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie holds a permission under the Heilpraktikergesetz, the law for people who treat without a medical licence. It is not an Approbation. The federal chamber's page links to each regional chamber's search for psychotherapists.
