Counselling Psychologist based in Hamburg, Germany. Audio-only sessions with adults worldwide. I specialise in depersonalization (DPDR), anxiety, and complex trauma. Over fifteen years in practice. Author of The Floor Beneath the Floor. I also offer Relationship Clarity Sessions for couples.

About Me

I work exclusively online, audio-only, with no camera. That's a deliberate clinical choice. For clients dealing with dissociation, depersonalization, or living in regions where privacy matters, the absence of a camera changes what becomes possible in the room. You can close your eyes, lie down, or talk while walking. The work is about what's happening inside you, not how you look while doing it. I'm Canadian and British, trained integratively at the University of British Columbia, and now based in Hamburg. I've spent years specializing in depersonalization and derealization, a condition that's widely misunderstood and frequently misdiagnosed. I've written two books about it: The Floor Beneath the Floor is a personal memoir of living with severe DPDR, and Reclaiming Reality is a clinical guide for therapists and clients. I also developed an audio course, DP/DR First-Aid, for people working through DPDR on their own. Beyond DPDR, I work with anxiety, complex trauma, long-standing relationship patterns, and the quiet depressions that don't always look like depression from the outside. My clients come from across Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia, often from places where the right therapist simply isn't locally available. I also offer Relationship Clarity Sessions for couples: 80-minute audio-only sessions designed to interrupt the repeating patterns most couples get stuck in. The goal is not to save the relationship at all costs. The goal is clarity. Sometimes that leads to repair, sometimes to a conscious, respectful separation. I draw on Internal Family Systems and Gestalt to slow the couple's interaction down so both partners can see what is actually driving their loop. I'm also an artist and writer. That shapes how I listen. I pay attention to language, to what lies beneath what's being said, to the parts of your experience that don't fit the usual categories. All sessions are conducted in English. My German vocabulary is extensive, so if you're more comfortable saying something in German, I'll understand it and we'll find the English together.

Approach

You talk, and I listen, and then we work together with what comes up. In the first meeting, I don't use questionnaires or assessment scales. I want to hear you in your own words first. Over the first few sessions, we develop a shared understanding of what we're actually working with, not just the obvious symptom but what lies beneath it. I draw on four main approaches: Internal Family Systems (IFS): We work with the different parts of you, the anxious part, the perfectionist, the inner critic, the wounded child. Not as metaphor but as felt experience. Most clients are surprised how quickly this work goes deep. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Instead of fighting your thoughts and feelings, we learn to hold them differently, and to move toward what actually matters to you. Schema Therapy: For the long-standing patterns you've been stuck in for decades. The kind of partner you keep choosing, the kind of job, the kind of self-sabotage. We work with those patterns at their root. Gestalt and somatic awareness: Attention to what's happening in your body right now. I'll often ask you to slow down, notice, feel. Not as technique, but because that's where the real information is. I'm direct but never harsh. I'll challenge you, but I won't shame you. The work is collaborative, not performative. If at any point I think you'd be better served by another therapist or another method, I'll tell you honestly. The first session is 80 minutes, longer than a standard session so we have time to actually get to know each other. Follow-up sessions are 50 minutes.
