Mrs Simone Mellor-Clark

Psychotherapist

I'm an experienced UKCP Registered Psychotherapist with 20 years’ experience. I work with adults who want to make sense of their experiences, reduce emotional distress, and build a life that feels more authentic and sustainable. Therapy is a deeply personal experience, and it’s important to know you’re working with someone who’s professionally trained, accountable, and committed to safe, ethical practice. As a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, I’ve completed rigorous postgraduate training, extensive clinical practice, and continue to meet high standards of supervision, ethics, and ongoing learning. I also engage in continuous professional development - not just because it’s required, but because I care deeply about offering thoughtful, informed, and effective therapy.

About Me

Hello, I'm Simone I believe therapy works best when it's grounded in understanding - not just what brings you here, but who you are, how you've survived, and what you need to feel safe enough to change. I’ve supported adults with emotional and relational difficulties for over 20 years, working with warmth, compassion, and a trauma-informed perspective. Since 2005, I’ve worked across NHS services, voluntary organisations, and private practice. I established my own practice in 2009 and now work exclusively with adults navigating a wide range of challenges. I work integratively, drawing on: • Attachment and Polyvagal Theory • Internal Family Systems • CBT (with heart) • Mindfulness-based approaches • Psychoeducation • Relational Transactional Analysis • Schema Therapy This means therapy is shaped around your needs, your nervous system, and the way you naturally think, feel, and process. Outside of work, I recharge through walking in the Malvern Hills, gardening, yoga, mindfulness, and getting lost in audiobooks.

Approach

What it’s like to work with me Therapy can sometimes feel like having an engaging conversation with a close and trusted friend – someone who truly wants to hear what you’re facing. But it goes much deeper than that. For meaningful change to truly happen, we need to go beneath the surface. I’ll pay careful attention to: • your nervous system • the impact of past experiences • attachment patterns • how stress shows up in your body and relationships Being trauma-informed means, I recognise the complexity of trauma and the ways people learn to survive it. I work gently, respectfully, and without pathologising your coping strategies. A collaborative process Together, we’ll explore your emotions, patterns, relationships, and responses to life. Through this process, you may reconnect with your own wisdom, strengthen self-trust, and develop a kinder, steadier relationship with yourself. You’re never passive in therapy with me. You bring your experience - I bring curiosity, knowledge, presence, and emotional safety - and we work together. An approach that adapts to you Some people benefit from practical strategies. Others need space to think, feel, and make sense of things. Most people need a blend. I adapt therapy to align with how you process and communicate. There is no “right” way to do therapy - only what works for you.
