Mr Nsamu Moonga

Music Therapist

Grounded in anti-oppressive and non-interference practice, I work with people exploring health and lifestyle choices, medical complications & human sexualities.

About Me

I am a music therapist and arts therapist based in Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa. I offer counseling, music therapy, and psychotherapy for people facing abuse, life transitions, anxiety, and grief. I provide a calm, private space to process emotions and practice coping skills.

Approach

I am an integrative therapist compassionately cognizant of the impact of traumatisation on people's lives, social relations and personal relationship. I am a classically trained singer and enjoy dancing.

Growing up in Britain's post-colony and experiencing ambivalent feelings towards my cultural identities, I developed interests in holistic anti-oppressive practice, Ethno-Eco-Psycho-spiritualities and lifelong development, learning, and critical theory-informed research.

Grounded in anti-oppressive and non-interference practice, I work with people exploring health and lifestyle choices, medical complications, human sexualities and gender, spiritual experiences, psychosocial support, and learning enhancement.

I enjoy long-distance running and writing mystical poetry. I am a foodie, enjoy mentoring youth, enjoy mentoring youth, and love being an uncle.

Basic Information

Services

As a music psychotherapist, I use music to access, work through, and resolve therapeutic issues by creating or listening to music with verbal discourse to guide, interpret, or enhance the music experience and its relevance to the client and therapeutic process. The therapeutic issue is accessed, worked through, and resolved through both musical and verbal experiences, occurring alternately or simultaneously. Music is used for its specific and unique qualities and is germane to the therapeutic issue and its treatment; words are used to identify and consolidate insights gained during the process.
