About Me
I have worked for over 20 years in public services and privately as a psychotherapist, which means I have had the privilege of working with a number of presenting issues with people from many walks of life, and of many ages.
I also supervise therapists, offer training in the potential mental health implications of pregnancy loss, and examine communication skills of senior doctors for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I’m on the advisory board of Noon and the Health Professional Panel of the Miscarriage Association, and sit on the Adjudication Panel of the UKCP’s complaints and conduct process. I have published widely, and have written books.
I also run, and have practiced mindfulness for over 20 years. I don’t cold water swim.
Approach
Maybe you are reading this feeling sad, angry, anxious, low, or struggling to like yourself. Maybe you are feeling ok, but you would like to feel better about yourself, or improve your relationship with other people in your life – your partner, family members, friends or colleagues at work. You might be deciding whether talking therapy will help.
I am convinced that talking about your concerns with someone trained to hear them, and respond to them, in a particular way, can be very helpful. It won’t ‘cure’ you, or cancel out a painful past, but I know that it may well help you to move on with greater ease, and even pave the way for further positive changes.
I have a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (Minster Centre), Diploma in Clinical Supervision (The Grove) and many moons ago I began my professional life teaching, and then practising law as a solicitor. I have a BA Hons Juris (Oxford University), and an LLM (London University).
My training never stops and I regularly undertake professional development. I’m a full member of the UKCP.
