Janice Williams

Professional Counselor

I am a counsellor and coach specialising exclusively in Mother-Adult Daughter relationships. I trained through Mother-Daughter Coaching International (USA), the world’s leading provider of specialist education in this field. I am the only Certified Mother-Daughter Coach in Australia and the South Pacific region. This specialist training informs my work with women individually and with mother-daughter pairs, both Australia-wide and internationally.

About Me

I work with women who feel stuck, conflicted, or emotionally distant in their relationship with their mother or adult daughter. These relationships can be deeply loving and equally painful - often shaped by long-standing expectations, unspoken hurts, and patterns that feel hard to shift. I support women individually, as well as mother-daughter pairs, to make sense of these dynamics and find a way forward that feels calmer, clearer, and more emotionally sustainable. My work is for women who want to step out of cycles of conflict, confusion, or withdrawal and move toward relationships with stronger boundaries, greater understanding, and less reactivity. Sessions are offered across Australia and worldwide.

Approach

My approach is relational, reflective and practical. Together, we explore the family stories, communication patterns, and interactional dynamics that have shaped your relationship over time. Sessions focus on increasing awareness of what’s driving conflict or emotional distance, developing healthier ways of communicating, and learning how to respond rather than react. Whether working individually or together, the goal is to support change that feels respectful, boundaried and sustainable - so you can relate to each other with greater clarity and emotional safety. If mother-daughter relationships feel complicated or overwhelming, you’re not alone. Support is available when you’re ready.
