ILIA

Mr ILIA EGIIAN

Jungian Analyst

For me, psychotherapy is not only about “fixing” a problem, but about giving your life a deeper, more coherent meaning. Very often, the initial request — anxiety, burnout, a breakup, or a vague sense that “something is wrong with me” — turns out to be a doorway into long-ignored experiences, losses and conflicts. What we call a “symptom” is usually a form of communication from a part of you that has not yet been heard. In our work we slowly gather your personal story from early childhood onwards, noticing how past relationships, family dynamics and unprocessed trauma still shape the present. As your story becomes clearer and more emotionally alive, people often report feeling less fragmented, less ashamed of their experience, and more able to act from a place of choice rather than compulsion. I am inspired by the image of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Psychologically, this means that we do not try to erase the cracks in your history. Instead, we carefully explore them, understand their origins and consequences, and gradually integrate them into a more solid sense of self — so that what once felt like a weakness can become a source of strength and inner dignity.

About Me

I am a Jungian and clinical psychologist working with adults in long-term analytic therapy. Since 2017 I have been helping people work through childhood and relational trauma, depression, anxiety, and life crises, so that their current difficulties begin to make sense and become a starting point for change. My background combines Jungian training, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic education, as well as clinical experience in a psychiatric hospital. I am a member of the Moscow Association for Analytical Psychology and the All-Russian Professional Psychotherapeutic League. I currently offer individual and couples sessions online (Zoom / Skype) and in person in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Approach

My work is rooted in Jungian analysis and contemporary psychodynamic / psychoanalytic thinking. I pay close attention to unconscious processes: dreams, fantasies, slips, body reactions, and seemingly “irrational” feelings. These are not random; they are the language through which deeper layers of the psyche speak when ordinary words are not yet available. At the same time, I work in a relational way. Change happens not only through insight, but also through what unfolds between us in the therapeutic space. Old patterns of relating often quietly repeat themselves in the relationship with the therapist: expectations of rejection, fear of being too much, difficulty trusting or setting boundaries. We explore these processes together, as they appear in the here-and-now, so that you can gradually have a new emotional experience instead of only understanding things intellectually. I take ethics and confidentiality very seriously. My role is not to judge or “correct” you, but to create a safe enough setting where even the most painful or ambivalent experiences can be spoken and thought about. From this kind of stable, respectful frame, deeper work with trauma, depression, anxiety, and identity questions becomes possible.

Services

I work with adults (18+) in individual analytic therapy and also offer couples therapy. Sessions are 50 minutes, held online (Zoom / Skype) or in person in Chiang Mai. I work with clients living in different countries, including those going through migration, relocation and cross-cultural adaptation. Areas of particular focus include: – depression and loss of interest in life; – grief and loss (divorce, separation, bereavement); – developmental and relational trauma, including experiences of violence or long-term dysfunction in the family of origin; – questions of identity, meaning, and life transitions; – difficulties with intimacy, dependence, and maintaining relationships; – eating-related difficulties (such as compulsive overeating); – repetitive life patterns in work, love, money and self-sabotage; – complex relationships with parents in adulthood; – anxiety, phobias and panic attacks. I work with psychological and relational addictions (for example, to relationships or gaming), and with clients who have psychiatric diagnoses in collaboration with their psychiatrist when needed. I do not provide treatment for active severe chemical addiction without medical support, and I do not work with children or minors.
