Who is allowed to practise
Thailand licenses its doctors through the Medical Council of Thailand, the national body that oversees every medical practitioner in the country, psychiatrists among them, and holds them to its professional and ethical standards. Its licences are issued as temporary or permanent.
What the council's list confirms is a doctor's medical standing, so it answers for a psychiatrist and not for every therapist title you may meet on a Thai listing. You can check a doctor's licence with the Medical Council of Thailand.
Under the Healing Arts Practices Act B.E. 2542 (1999) a clinical psychologist, นักจิตวิทยาคลินิก, holds a healing arts licence, not the medical licence a psychiatrist holds. Section 5 lists the licensed branches, and no counsellor or therapist title is among them.

TherapyRoute is a clinician-led directory that champions independent practitioners who answer to you and their professional ethics. We don't take commissions, sell your data, or assign therapists by algorithm. You browse, compare, and choose.
