Mrs Hanli van der Merwe

Counseling Psychologist

I am a CBT enthusiast, believing that we are not a product of our environment but rather that we can choose how we experience and react to life. The idea that we can overcome adversity, and flourish, truly excites me. I also have a special interest in career assessments.

About Me

I help you explore your thoughts and reactions, believing you can choose how to experience life's challenges. As a CBT enthusiast, I guide you to develop practical tools for overcoming adversity. We can work together to build resilience and find your unique path to flourishing. I also offer career assessments, guiding you towards clarity and confidence in your professional journey. This approach suits those ready to actively shape their future.

Approach

Together we turn insight into small, practical shifts that change day-to-day reactions and open space for new choices. In my Centurion office I work in Afrikaans and English, keeping a steady pace that balances focused skill-practice, brief experiments and reflective mindfulness between sessions. We set clear goals, test unhelpful thinking with simple behavioural experiments, and use short home practices to strengthen what helps. This way suits people ready to actively try new responses and build lasting coping habits.
