About Me

Hello, I’m Angela Groza, a psychologist and integrative psychotherapist, with a PhD in Psychology and more than 26 years of professional experience. Psychology has been both my profession and a field that continues to inspire me. Over the years, my work has brought me into contact with people of different ages, backgrounds and life experiences. Each of them has reminded me, in a different way, of the importance of feeling genuinely seen, heard and understood. I believe that seeking therapy is often an act of courage. Sometimes we come to therapy because something is painful; at other times, because we feel stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from ourselves or from others. And sometimes there is simply a sense that we would like to understand ourselves more deeply and find a different way of living. Empathy and confidentiality are central to my work. I aim to offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space in which you can be yourself. I will not tell you who you should be or how you should live your life. Instead, I will accompany you as you explore your experiences, emotions, relationships and patterns, helping you recognise your own resources and possibilities for change, and find ways to create the life you want to live. My professional experience brings together many years of university teaching ( years), research and clinical practice. This includes my role as Manager of the Psychological Safety Research Laboratory within the Faculty of Psychology at “Ion Creangă” State Pedagogical University, as well as my involvement in other research projects, my work in private practice and my experience at the National Centre for the Protection of Abused Children. I see each person as a whole, with thoughts, emotions, body, relationships and life experiences all deeply interconnected. Difficulties rarely exist in isolation. For this reason, I adapt the therapeutic process to the individual, rather than expecting the individual to fit a particular method or approach. I am particularly interested in the ways in which our earlier experiences can shape the relationships we have with ourselves and with others. Patterns learned early in life can continue to influence us long after the circumstances in which they first developed have changed. Through greater awareness, compassion and the experience of a safe therapeutic relationship, these patterns can become more flexible, opening the possibility of new ways of relating. My work is grounded in respect, collaboration and authenticity. I see therapy as a process in which difficult experiences can be approached at a pace that feels right for you, while making space for growth, deeper self-understanding and meaningful change. I would be pleased to work with you in exploring the difficulties you are facing and in finding ways of responding to them.

Approach

My work draws on methods and techniques from integrative psychotherapy, EMDR, relational approaches such as IMAGO, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). I pay attention not only to symptoms, but also to the emotions, thoughts, bodily experiences, behaviours, relationships and life experiences that shape the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. When working with trauma, overwhelming experiences or periods of significant stress, I use EMDR therapy, with particular attention to safety, stabilisation and respect for your individual pace. When appropriate, EMDR can be integrated into the therapeutic process to help difficult experiences be processed and become less emotionally overwhelming. In working with relationship difficulties, I draw on IMAGO therapy and emotion-focused approaches (EFT). I pay particular attention to the patterns that develop within relationships, the needs and vulnerabilities that may lie beneath conflict, and the ways in which greater awareness and emotional connection can support meaningful change. I see therapy as a collaborative process. My role is not to tell you how you should live, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, greater emotional flexibility and more adaptive ways of responding to life’s challenges. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, overwhelming experiences, trauma, difficulties in your relationships or significant life transitions, or simply wish to understand yourself more deeply, we can work together to create a therapeutic process that is meaningful, thoughtful and suited to your individual needs.

Services

Integrative Psychotherapy A flexible and personalised approach that combines methods from different psychotherapeutic orientations, tailored to each person’s needs and goals. It considers the interconnectedness of emotions, thoughts, body, behaviours, life experiences and relationships. Recommended for: anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, difficulties with emotional regulation, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life transitions and personal growth. EMDR Therapy A structured, evidence-based form of psychotherapy used particularly to process trauma and distressing memories that continue to trigger intense emotional responses. Through a phased protocol and bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the processing and integration of difficult experiences without erasing memories. Particularly recommended for: trauma and PTSD, stress and, depending on clinical assessment, anxiety, phobias and panic. IMAGO Relational Therapy An approach that explores how early experiences and relational patterns influence our relationships in the present. In couples therapy, the Imago Dialogue facilitates attentive listening, authentic expression of needs and mutual understanding, helping to reduce conflict and strengthen connection. The IMAGO perspective can also be relevant to family relationships, parent-child relationships, friendships and certain professional relationships. Recommended for: communication difficulties, recurring conflicts, emotional disconnection, difficulties with connection and repetitive relationship patterns.
