This page lists Asian Anxiety Psychotherapists in Markham. 3 in all.
That is 3 of the 11 psychotherapists listed in Markham.
These are practitioners who identify as Asian on their profile. It is their own answer. We do not check it, and nothing here is ranked.
Other practitioners chose South Asian, or East and Southeast Asian. This filter does not include them 1.
You can filter the same list by the languages a practitioner works in. Ask a practitioner which language they are comfortable working in.
How anxiety is treated
Anxiety treatment is for fear and worry that persist and get in the way. It is not for ordinary nerves.
The treatments with the most evidence are based on cognitive behavioural principles 2. That includes exposure therapy, where you face what you have been avoiding, a step at a time.
A prescriber may also consider medicine, depending on age and severity 3.
What psychotherapy works on, and how long it usually runs
Everyone on this page describes their work as psychotherapy. A psychotherapist works through talking with you about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours 4.
Psychotherapy usually runs longer than counselling and aims for clinical change. It works on patterns that repeat rather than on one current problem.
A psychotherapist trains in psychological treatment rather than in medicine. What that training covers, and which approach a practitioner uses, differ between practitioners. Ask which approach a psychotherapist trained in, and how long they usually work.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Asian identity, the specialism recorded as Anxiety and the professional title psychotherapist.
The Markham page answers more questions about therapy there.
Who registers therapists in Canada?
