Find a Therapist In Peru

Peru has 1 therapist listed on TherapyRoute.

The list on this page is short, and it may not hold anyone who suits you. Two things below still apply. One is who is entitled to register as a therapist in this country. The other is what shapes the cost of a session here.

Peru's Mental Health Act, Ley 30947 of 2019, starts with where a person may go. It gives the right to be treated at the health establishment nearest home. Public services are directed to see children, women who have suffered violence and people in poverty first.

Some people in poverty with a mental disability hold no enrolment at all. The law says they are to be taken into the Seguro Integral de Salud. The law governing the Colegio de Psicologos del Peru sets out what the college may do. It registers psychologists and polices their conduct.

In Peru, joining the Colegio de Psicólogos del Perú is required by law in order to practise as a psychologist. It is not a voluntary affiliation, and a practitioner using the title should hold it. The college publishes a search over its members and their standing, which means a Peruvian listing can be checked rather than assumed.

For a title held outside psychology, the college's search is not the check that answers. You can search the Colegio de Psicólogos del Perú member list. Ley 28369 makes psychology one profession with named specialities, Psicología Clínica y de la Salud among them, not separate licences. It names no psicoterapeuta title.
