The list on this page is short, and it may not hold anyone who suits you. Two things below still apply. One is who is entitled to register as a therapist in this country. The other is what shapes the cost of a session here.

Jordan runs a civil health insurance scheme through the Ministry of Health. The instrument in force is Civil Health Insurance Regulation No. 83 of 2004. Treatment charges and medicine prices for cardholders are not fixed in that regulation. They are set by ministerial instructions issued under three of its articles.

Cover was later extended without charge to pregnant women and to citizens above the age of sixty. Psychological practice sits under a separate instrument, Regulation No. 64 of 2000.

Jordan licenses through the health ministry rather than through a psychology board. The public health law lists clinical psychology, mental health and psychological counselling among the health professions.

The Minister of Health issues the licence, after taking advice from the relevant professional unions. Practising one of the listed professions without that licence is unlawful. Jordan publishes no register a member of the public can search. So ask which licence a practitioner holds, and ask to see it.
