Chile's Ley 19.966 sets explicit entitlements over a named list of health problems. Depression and schizophrenia are both on that list. The list and those entitlements are approved by supreme decree of the Ministry of Health. The Minister of Finance signs it too. Decreto 29 is the one now in force.

For each problem the law fixes what the person contributes against a reference tariff of the regime. The Fondo Nacional de Salud covers the whole value for people in its lowest income groups. For depression the access entitlement runs from diagnostic confirmation.

In Chile the register is a government one rather than a professional association's list. The Superintendencia de Salud keeps the national register of individual health providers. It lists psychologists and doctors whose professional title lets them practise.

The Superintendencia enters them itself or on request, and anyone can search the register. You can check the national register of individual providers. Decreto 16 of 2007 lists psicólogo among the professions entered in the national provider register, and not psicoterapeuta.

The Código Sanitario puts psychotherapy inside a psychologist's services, so ask which registered title a psicoterapeuta holds.
