What therapy costs in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina has no single national health service. Health care and health insurance are set by the entities. In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina the cantonal insurance institutes carry it.
There, mental health care starts at the dom zdravlja, the primary care house. The Health Care Act places a community mental health centre inside it. A psychologist takes part in mental health protection at that level.
A Federation law on the work of psychologists is still at draft stage. It went to public consultation in 2025. It would create a chamber and let it set a floor price for private practice.

Who is allowed to practise
Health and professional regulation in Bosnia and Herzegovina sits with the entities, not the state. The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina says it has no unified register of psychologists. It says private psychological practice there is not regulated. It said both in 2023, announcing a draft law on psychological activity.
We could not establish the position in Republika Srpska, so we do not state one. Ask a practitioner where they trained and what they are registered for, and ask to see it.
