Özel Despina Hansen, BA

Clinical Psychologist

I have been working as a clinical psychologist since 2014, with extensive experience supporting individuals from minority and migrant backgrounds, helping clients navigate cultural differences and complex life transitions. I also work closely with challenges related to pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting support. Since 2022, I hold the EuroPsy certificate (European Certificate in Psychology), confirming that my education and practice meet European standards for professional competence. I offer therapy in English, Norwegian and Turkish.

About Me

I’m a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, educated at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology, which gives me a deeper understanding of how culture, relationships, and life experiences shape who we are. When emotions feel overwhelming or life changes bring uncertainty, finding clarity can be challenging. I invite you to a warm, safe online space where we gently explore your thoughts and feelings.

Approach

My therapeutic style is integrative — meaning I combine different evidence-based methods to best meet your unique needs. When emotions feel crowded, we gently slow down to map what matters and where you feel stuck, then choose small, meaningful steps. Sessions are held online in English, Norwegian or Turkish, and follow a steady, compassionate pace that balances conversation, mindfulness practice and values-based experiments. Between sessions you may try brief exercises or behavioural experiments to test new ways of relating to thoughts, feelings and relationships. This collaborative, practical rhythm tends to suit people facing identity shifts, relocation, parenting changes or burnout. I offer a flexible schedule, so you can book sessions at the times that work best for you — including evenings and weekends.
