About Us

We provide confidential counseling and mental health services to individuals and families across Serbia. We use practical, evidence-based methods to address anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship problems. We work with you to build coping skills and clearer communication.

Approach

We offer steady, immediate-contact support tailored to moments when things feel overwhelming, meeting people in a calm, practical way. In sessions held in Novi Sad and across Serbia, in Bosnian, Croatian or Serbian, we focus on clear, short-term steps you can try between meetings and on stabilizing safety first. Conversations are paced to match what you can handle—grounding, decision-mapping and practical problem-solving that you can use the same day. This approach often helps those needing focused, reachable relief.

Basic Information

Services

Center “Srce”, Novi Sad is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profitable organization, which offers suicide prevention and emotional support to people in crisis. It is a part of the Befrienders Worldwide network.

Center was founded in 1991 and joined BW network in 1993. Every day from 3pm to 11pm, volunteers from Center “Srce” talk to people by phone, email or chat. We don’t patronize; we take problems seriously; we don't “comfort” people saying that problems will go away and, what is the most important, we don't tell them what to do.

We believe that everybody knows what is best for them, and we believe each person has the right to decide about his/her life, even if the decision is to end it.

All information we get from our callers is strictly confidential and stays within the Center. People who get in touch with us can stay anonymous. Services of the Center are offered free of charge.
