Ms Sarah Hamilton

Psychotherapist

Effective, professional therapy for adults of all ages, in person and online. Resolve depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma and low self-esteem.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist based in Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire. I provide professional, effective psychotherapy and counselling for adults of all ages (there's no upper limit for change). I am particularly experienced in helping people resolve issues related to trauma, PTSD and dissociation. I specialise in working with older adults, those on the autistic spectrum, and adults who went to boarding school.

Approach

I generally find that before we start looking at solutions, we need to understand something about who you are – your life, your experiences, and how you think and feel about things. That’s because a problem that may seem on the surface to be shared by many other people (e.g. depression, or anger, or feeling ‘stuck’) can actually have very different roots in each case. And that means the best way forwards will be completely different for each person.

So we’ll talk not just about your problems but also your strengths and values; not just about your worries, but also what brings you ease; not just about your fears, but also what helps you find courage. In this way we can find a path that makes the most of your own natural resources. And the changes we achieve together are much more likely to ‘stick’, long term.

Services

I provide a safe, supportive space for adults of all ages, where you can explore your worries and feelings without being judged. I see clients at my clinic in Hay-on-Wye, and also through secure online video and telephone sessions. I help people: Learn who they are and find the courage to live richly and fully Transform anger and low self-esteem Find relief from anxiety and depression Overcome trauma, and find peace and healing Navigate bereavement, divorce, and other difficult life-events You may think your problems are so BIG, or your situation so impossible, that nothing will help. But there is a way through. In my work I’ve seen that everyone has the capacity to get ‘un-stuck’, no matter how difficult a place they may be in.
