Ms Sarah Doublesin

Psychotherapist

I offer psychotherapy to adults who are curious about themselves, finding their way through change, or feeling stuck with anxiety, low mood, stress, or relationship difficulties. My background in Gestalt Psychotherapy and body- and movement-based psychotherapy allows me to work in a way that is relational, embodied, and grounded in present-moment experience. Together, we pay attention to what is happening not only in words, but also in the body — sensations, emotions, impulses, and patterns that often hold important information. This can open up new understanding and support more flexible, compassionate ways of responding to life’s challenges. This way of working often resonates with people seeking a holistic, depth-oriented approach and a sense of movement forward that feels authentic and sustainable.

About Me

I was born in Malta and spent my early childhood here, before moving with my family to the Middle East during my teenage years. The frequent changes in environment and a turbulent adolescence disrupted my education, and for a time I struggled to find stability and direction. At eighteen, I returned to Malta and began again from scratch, committing myself to study in order to gain entry into university. During this period, I came to recognise my own experiences of anxiety and depression and sought professional support. That process — of being met, understood, and accompanied during a difficult time — was formative. It was then that my path became clear: I wanted to offer others the kind of presence and support that had helped me find my way forward. I went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and later moved to London where I trained in Dance and Movement Therapy, grounded in psychodynamic theory. I spent seven years living and working in London, before further deepening my clinical training by completing a Master’s degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy ten years ago. I have been practising as a psychotherapist ever since. My personal journey, alongside my professional training, continues to shape the way I work — with respect for complexity, sensitivity to the body and nervous system, and a belief in the possibility of meaningful change, even after long periods of struggle.

Approach

Sessions often begin by noticing where your attention naturally lands — bodily sensations, emotional tones, recurring thoughts from the past week, moments of held tension or unexpected ease. We stay with these gently, exploring what they might be revealing about current patterns in your life. My work weaves together moment-to-moment Gestalt awareness, body-based and somatic experiments, and reflective conversation. Rather than analysing from a distance, we listen closely to what is happening now — in the body, in relationship, and in the field between us. This creates space for new experiences to emerge, not just new insights. Alongside this, I offer practical, manageable experiments between sessions, supporting you to try out new ways of responding to anxiety, chronic illness, or relational strain in everyday life. Change is approached gradually and respectfully, with care for pace, capacity, and nervous system regulation. This approach often resonates with adults and older adults seeking embodied clarity, greater self-support, and steady, sustainable change.

Services

I work with a diverse range of adults and do not limit my practice to a specific client population. I value meeting each person as they are, listening carefully to their unique story, and honouring the ways they have learned to cope and survive. I hold a deep respect for the creativity and resilience that often underlie even the most difficult patterns. Therapy offers a space to develop greater sensitivity to your own needs, desires, and personal goals, while also bringing awareness to how you relate to others. Particular attention is given to the relationship you have with yourself — how you listen inwardly, offer care, set boundaries, and make meaning of your experience. Through an embodied, relational process, my work supports increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and more satisfying ways of being in relationship, both internally and externally.
