About Us

Sanctuary Clinics is the outpatient mental health and addiction arm of the Solace Wellbeing Group, one of Malaysia’s most established organisations in addiction treatment and psychological care. Our story began with Solace Asia, which was founded in 2013 and has spent more than a decade supporting individuals and families affected by addiction and mental health challenges through evidence-based, multidisciplinary treatment. Since opening its doors in 2014, Solace Asia has treated more than 2,000 local and international clients and is widely recognised as a pioneer in private addiction treatment in Malaysia. Sanctuary Clinics was created from a simple but important need: many people leaving rehabilitation still required ongoing therapy, medical care, family support, and guidance as they returned to everyday life. What began as an aftercare service in a small office in Publika has grown into a full-service multidisciplinary clinic in Bukit Jalil, offering therapy, counselling, psychological services, medical support, and addiction care for adults, couples, and families. Our philosophy is that if someone reaches out to Sanctuary, they will either receive the support they need or be guided to it, never turned away. Our wider Solace ecosystem allows us to support people across the full continuum of care. From outpatient therapy and medical consultations to specialised addiction treatment and more intensive rehabilitation when needed. The group is led by Adjunct Professor Dr Prem Kumar Shanmugam, a psychologist, psychotherapist, trainer, researcher, and international addiction specialist who has held leadership roles within regional professional bodies and has contributed to treatment development, training, and research in the field of addiction and mental health. We are proud to be part of a Malaysian-grown organisation that has spent over a decade building trusted mental health and addiction services locally and internationally. Our mission remains the same as when we started: to make high-quality mental health and addiction support accessible, respectful, and genuinely human for everyone who reaches out for help.

Approach

Working with us feels collaborative and personal. We take time to understand your situation, your goals, and what support would be most helpful for you right now, using a thorough clinical assessment that considers emotional, behavioural, relational, lifestyle, and medical factors. Whether you are seeking help for anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship difficulties, trauma, alcohol or drug addiction, gambling addiction, or general emotional wellbeing, our multidisciplinary team provides evidence-based care that is compassionate, practical, and tailored to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Our aim is not only to reduce symptoms, but to support meaningful, sustainable recovery and improved quality of life.

Services

We provide integrated mental health and addiction care through psychotherapy, psychiatric services, and medical screening, including blood investigations. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to assess emotional, psychological, behavioural, and physical factors that may be affecting wellbeing, allowing us to develop a personalised treatment plan for each client. Services include individual psychotherapy, couples and family support, psychiatric assessment and medication management, and targeted blood tests to help identify medical or nutritional factors that may contribute to symptoms such as low mood, anxiety, fatigue, sleep difficulties, or cognitive changes. By combining psychological and medical care in one setting, we aim to provide comprehensive, evidence-based support that promotes meaningful and sustainable recovery.
