“I am Roberta Crescenzo, an experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor offering both short-term and longer-term therapy in South West London and online. I have extensive experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of personal, emotional and relational difficulties.”

About me

I have a long history of working as a counsellor and psychotherapist across the private and voluntary sectors. Whatever brings you to therapy, I believe that feeling understood, respected and safe is an important starting point for meaningful therapeutic work. I place great importance on clarity, professional boundaries and ethical practice, and aim to provide therapy that is thoughtful, respectful and grounded.

Approach

My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic perspectives according to each person’s individual needs, circumstances and goals. I offer a warm, safe and confidential space where you can explore what is troubling you at a pace that feels right for you. Attachment theory is an important part of my therapeutic approach. I am particularly interested in how our early experiences and relationships can influence the way we understand ourselves, relate to others and respond to difficulties in our adult lives. Exploring attachment patterns can help us develop a deeper understanding of recurring relationship difficulties, anxiety, insecurity, emotional responses and ways of coping, while creating opportunities for greater self-awareness and more fulfilling relationships. Alongside attachment-based therapy, I draw on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, CBT, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Transpersonal approaches. I work collaboratively, adapting the therapy to the individual rather than following a fixed model. My aim is to help you make sense of your experiences, understand patterns that may be affecting your present life and develop greater choice in how you respond.

Services

I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, inner conflict and the pressures of everyday life, including those trying to balance their emotional wellbeing with working and family life. Therapy can be helpful for many different reasons, and there is no single way of approaching it. I offer short-term counselling focused on a specific concern as well as open-ended psychotherapy for those who wish to explore deeper or longer-standing patterns.
