Counseling Psychologist

As a psychologist, i am committed to providing evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment. My clinical work focuses on creating psychological safety, accurate formulation, and structured, goal-directed intervention informed by current research and best-practice standards. Alongside clinical practice, I am actively engaged in psychoeducation and research, contributing to the training of future practitioners and to applied work aimed at improving access to ethical, effective mental health care.

About Me

I am a Counselling Psychologist based in Nugegoda, Western Province, Sri Lanka. I hold a Graduate Member with Chartered Basis of the British Psychological Society. I hold an MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology (UK), a BSc (Hons) in Psychology (UK), a Higher Diploma in Psychology and Counselling (UK), and a Diploma in Forensic Psychology (SL). I am also a university lecturer and researcher in psychology, committed to staying current with developments in psychological research and therapeutic practice. My research focuses on reducing barriers to mental help sevices through psychoeducation and destigmatisation.

Approach

As a counselling psychologist, I prioritise my clients' psychological safety, while maintaining practical momentum in therapy. Psychotherapeutic sessions focus on stabilisation, exploration of presenting concerns and psychometric evaluations followed by the development and execution of clear, measurable treatment plan that will support their everyday coping and functioning. I work collaboratively with clients, planning and pacing sessions to ensure they feel contained, supported, and able to translate insight into action. I offer sessions both in person and online, in English and Sinhala.
