Registered Clinical Psychologist,
Psychotherapist Counselor
Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
Do you sometimes have hints that your childhood experiences are affecting your current life as an adult? As a psychodynamically-trained therapist, I can help you make connections and work through difficult feelings. If you`d like to maximize your potential, you have found the right person! In New York and Tokyo, I have worked with people from various cultural/ethnic backgrounds. I also tend to work well with creative/artistic individuals (as I myself am a dancer/painter).

CORE SERVICES:
My basic thinking is psychodynamic but I am not Freudian/classic. I have been hugely influenced by NYC psychology culture, where I studied my Master`s and Doctoral degrees in psychology. Major influences include Sullivanian (interpersonal school), Kohutian (self psychology), object relations and relational. Having said that, I tend to work flexibly drawing from cognitive-behavioral or mindfulness techniques as well as working with dreams, too. The approach is not of a doctrine nature but tailored to individuals so that the work is done more effectively and profoundly. I also studied cultural psychology and stress cultural/social contributions to individuals.
The above may sound serious and for long-term treatment, but I also do offer short-term services (usually around 3, 6 or 10 sessions or so).
So if you have some time, financial, or other restrictions, please inquire. I would help you to deal with your immediate difficulties. This type of therapy is more solution-focused.
And of course, at the end of the short-term therapy if you`d like to keep working with me, that`d be more than welcome.
You may wonder what kinds of problem areas and what kinds of people I work with. The paragraph below, explains those.
Problem areas: Anxiety (social), depression, some other mood disorders, trauma-related disorders (PTSD, dissociation), grief, eating disorders, career/work issues, cross-cultural issues, minority issues, life transitions, relationship/marriage.
People: Maybe because of the setting, I tend to get bilingual (or more) people and people who are interested in languages and cultures.
I work well with creative and artistic people, people with some backgrounds in the arts (artists, creative writers, etc.), perhaps because I have some backgrounds in the arts, too.
Age groups are 20s through 50s, though I work well with young adulthood challenges (such as finding a romantic partner, starting a family, starting and establishing a career, etc.). Some people can struggle with these issues even when they are older. I work with college students and newly grads. I occasionally work with adolescents, too.
