Mae

Ms Mae McCarthy

Registered Psychotherapist

In my work, I support teens, adults, and couples with emotion regulation, stress management, and coping with trauma. As your therapist, I want you to feel comfortable coming to sessions as you are. Every part of you is welcome here, even the parts that are in pain, and the parts you haven't spoken to in a while.

About Me

Navigating stress, difficult emotions, or past trauma can feel overwhelming. I guide teens, adults, and couples to explore these experiences. You'll find a truly accepting environment where every part of you is welcomed. We work together to develop practical ways to manage feelings and build resilience. My aim is for you to feel fully seen and supported as you move towards greater calm.

Approach

When overwhelm shows up in your life, I invite a gentle exploration of what helps you breathe and act differently. Sessions in English are offered from my Ottawa office or online, and we move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of what you can carry. Together we track patterns, practice brief regulation skills, and try small, practical experiments to shift reactions to stress, trauma reminders, and relationship triggers. This steady, collaborative way of working often suits teens, adults, and couples looking for calm, practical support.
