Integrative Psychotherapist

Verified

I work with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions and periods of uncertainty or significant change. I also have a particular interest in working with young adults and with parents navigating relationships and change within their families. I’m interested in understanding you as a whole person and becoming curious about what may sit beneath what is happening now. Together, we might notice patterns, follow connections between experiences and relationships, or pay attention to something you can feel but have not quite found the words for yet. I don’t expect you to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or where to begin.

About Me

I’m an integrative psychotherapist and came to psychotherapy after many years working in education with children, young people, adults and families. That background left me deeply interested in development and relationships, and in how the experiences we have at different stages of life can continue to shape how we understand ourselves and respond to the world around us. Having lived and worked internationally, and experienced life across different countries and cultures myself, I’m particularly aware that we don’t develop in isolation. Our relationships, families, cultures and communities all contribute to how we understand ourselves and our place in the world. I bring this awareness to my work while remaining curious about what your own experiences mean to you. I work with adults and young people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, and have a particular interest in working with young adults and parents. Parenting can bring unexpected challenges and questions, but it can also bring us into contact with parts of our own experience that we may not have thought about for some time. Whatever brings you to therapy, I’m interested in getting to know the person behind it. I’m comfortable with there being things we don’t understand straight away. We can be curious about what emerges, including experiences that may be complicated, contradictory or not yet easy to put into words.

Approach

I’m an integrative psychotherapist, which means I don’t begin with a particular model and try to fit your experience into it. I want to understand what is happening for you, but I’m equally interested in what may sit beneath it and how it makes sense in the context of your life. My work has a person-centred and humanistic foundation and is informed by an understanding of the nervous system. I also draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), which gives us a compassionate way of becoming curious about the different parts of ourselves, including those that may have developed over time to protect us or help us cope. We might notice what happens in your body as well as what you can put into words. Sometimes we might pick up a thread and follow it. It may lead us towards an earlier experience, a relationship, a familiar response or something we had not expected to find. At other times, we may stay very much with what is happening in your life now. I don’t think everything needs to be explained or resolved immediately. There can be value in staying curious for a while and seeing what begins to make sense. When I work with parents, I bring my understanding of child and adolescent development, attachment and family relationships while keeping your experience as a parent firmly in view. We can think about what may be happening for your child, what happens between you, and what parenting may be stirring in your own experience. There is no prescribed route through therapy. Our work develops through what you bring, what we notice together and the relationship that develops between us.

Basic Information

In-person & Online

Services

I offer individual psychotherapy for adults and young people, alongside therapeutic support for parents. I work with anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, life transitions, parenting and periods of significant change or uncertainty. With parents, our work might involve understanding what is happening for your child or young person, looking at patterns within family relationships, or considering what parenting may be bringing up for you personally. Often, these things overlap. I also have particular experience of working with people living internationally or across cultures, including the questions around identity, belonging, relationships and transition that can accompany life between different places. Sessions are available online and in person in Cambridgeshire. For those meeting locally, I also offer Walk and Talk therapy, where our session takes place outdoors while walking together. Therapy may be short- or longer-term, depending on what brings you and how our work develops.
