Ms Julia Miller, MA

Registered Psychotherapist

verified by TherapyRoute

I work with a lot of women, carers and caregivers who are going through life transitions due to health issues, burnout, relationship issues or facing past traumas. I meet my clients where they are with compassion, empathy and understanding. We work together to help clarify priorities, values and goals. I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches to be able to meet each clients unique needs and contexts.

About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and my Master of Science in Aging and Health at Queen’s University. I use a strengths-based, person-centered, culturally responsive and trauma-informed perspective to help you achieve your best possible outcomes. My areas of focus include navigating personal growth, anxiety, chronic illness, chronic pain, depression, end-of-life, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship issues, stress and burnout in a holistic way. I make a commitment to you to provide timely, accessible, inclusive, individualized therapeutic services. I provide counselling services using a variety of approaches and will work with you to find the best fit and type of therapy to match your goals, expectations, and proposed timeline. I work collaboratively with clients to move towards resolution and healing. I offer telephone and video sessions to clients across Canada, and in-person, outdoor, and walk and talk sessions in Carleton Place and Ottawa.

Approach

I work at a pace you set, blending gentle curiosity with practical focus to uncover what matters most. Sessions in English are available in my Ottawa office or online, and I match the rhythm and homework to your day-to-day reality so that therapy fits your life. I will listen, reflect, encourage experiments between sessions, and adjust as we go—clear, steady steps rather than big leaps. This approach often suits adults and couples looking for collaborative, solution-focused and sustainable change. I integrate a variety of approaches including mindfulness based and somatic therapies.
