Dr Joy Dryer

Clinical Psychologist

As Psychologist/ Psychoanalyst I wear 2 hats. 1st, over 40 years I've worked with individuals, families, couples (using PACT). 2nd, as a Divorce Mediator I consult with couples RE: Steps of Separation, & specialize in helping couples decide to Stay (& work on their relationship) OR to Separate (& how to leave).

About Me

I help couples navigate complex relationship crossroads, whether you're considering staying together or contemplating separation. With over 40 years' experience, I guide individuals, families, and couples to clarity. For partners, I offer a structured approach, like PACT, to explore options. My aim is to support you in making informed decisions and finding a respectful path forward. I ensure all voices are heard with understanding.

Approach

At critical turning points I guide partners through a stepwise process that balances honest clarity with careful planning, helping you decide whether to invest in repair or to separate with dignity. Sessions in my New York City office or via secure online video are conducted in English, paced deliberately to allow both immediate problem-solving and deeper reflection. I blend focused, action-oriented work with reflective listening — short experiments between meetings, mindful practices, and clear logistical planning when separation is considered. This approach suits couples and individuals seeking practical clarity and mutual respect.
