About Me

I'm Ian Remon, a psychotherapist based in Copenhagen, Denmark, seeing clients in person or online, in English, Spanish, or Danish. I work from a humanistic approach, with an existential orientation, drawing on cognitive and emotional techniques, somatic approaches, dreamwork, and grief processing. Whatever's brought you here, I see it as something you're currently in, not something wrong with you. My aim isn't to fix you, it's to be there with you while things shift. People who've worked with me often describe feeling genuinely heard, not judged, not managed, just accompanied through whatever they brought into the room. Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent twenty years in engineering, a different kind of attention to what's real, brought into this work. I'm a member of the Danish Psychotherapy Association (Dansk Psykoterapeutforening, MPF).

Approach

What's often missing isn't more explanation, it's someone actually there with you, in what's happening for you specifically, as it happens. My approach is non-directive: I don't arrive with an agenda, a model for you to fit into, or a set of answers already decided. You set the direction; I follow closely, adjusting session to session to what actually needs attention, whether that's a feeling, a pattern, a decision, or something that hasn't found words yet. In my experience, change doesn't usually take root when it's handed to someone from outside, as advice, a diagnosis, or someone else's framework. It tends to happen when a person feels truly met, and has room, over time, to find their own way through.

My practice also extends into a few specific areas. This also touches on what it can mean to build a life in a culture and language that isn't the one you grew up in, a particular loneliness, a quiet unease about who you are once your original context is gone, and the slow transition of settling somewhere new. I understand this first-hand, not just professionally, it's part of why I recognize it in others. It also includes the larger questions that come with meaning, identity, and freedom, as well as spiritual or transpersonal exploration. There's also a sex-positive stance toward non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships and other non-traditional relationship structures, including LGBTQIA+ clients. And separately, this covers occupational stress and burnout and switching careers, including the uncertainty of figuring out what comes next. If any of this sounds like where you are, reach out; a first conversation is a good place to start.
