About Me

Welcome! I'm Gareth, a counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist based in Chiswick West London. I've been working with clients since 2012 and so bring a wealth of understanding, knowledge and experience into my therapeutic work. I'm trained in the Transactional Analyses modality but incorporate aspects of CBT, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology and other approaches to my work, recognising that each person is an individual and so needs a slightly different way of working.

Approach

My approach is routed in the Transactional Analyses modality where we'll spend time exploring your struggles in the here and now whilst also building trust and rapport between us which is essential for successful therapy. We'll then gradually begin to explore the origins of your struggles as often people will find current difficulties have their roots in the distant past even if that's no immediately obvious. Through an exploration of your thoughts, feelings and experiences in both the past and the present, we'll gradually begin to help you understand what's happening for you in the here and now, giving you support and encouragement as you begin to explore new ways of being and trying new ways to help yourself achieve the life you truly desire. And as the Transactional Analysis approach is rich in theory, if you're the type of person who likes to really understand what's happening for them, we can also spend time exploring how psychological theory has been played out in your life.
