Dr Erika Steenberg, PhD

Neuropsychologist

Clinical psychologist and Neuropsychologist doing assessments and therapy in any age group, therapeutically most experienced with children and adolescents. I am experienced in medico-legal assessments.

About Me

With a PhD in Child Psychology, I conduct clinical, neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments and offer therapy to individuals of all ages. My expertise lies in supporting children, adolescents and adults, helping them understand and manage their emotional worlds. Sessions are designed to meet each person where they are, fostering growth and well-being. My practice also focuses on assessing and supporting individuals with neurological conditions, such as individuals who experienced TBI or stroke. I have many years of experience in the medico-legal field. I believe in the healing power of the expressive arts therapies and although I am not a qualified arts therapist, I have training in certain music therapy (Guided Imaging and Music) and art therapy (Mandala Assessment Research Instrument) techniques that can provide emotional growth. I also have training and experience in using the Rorschach (R-PAS).

Approach

Therapy unfolds as a flexible collaboration at a pace appropriate to each client. In my practice I work in English and Afrikaans. I use developmentally appropriate activities with children and young people and suitable conversations with adults. My approach is mostly client-centred but is flexible and based on the client's needs. I have an interest in arts based therapies and have additional training and knowledge in certain techniques.
