I work with Russian- and English-speaking adults living abroad who are experiencing anxiety, burnout, difficult relationships, identity crises, or the challenges of emigration and life transitions. My integrative approach combines existential and psychodynamic perspectives, adapted to each person's individual needs, values, and goals. I help clients better understand themselves, work through difficult experiences, and find a way forward that feels genuinely their own.

About Me

I'm Ekaterina Tomas, a licensed psychologist-psychotherapist based in Greece, offering online therapy for Russian-speaking clients worldwide, from Europe and the Americas to Asia and Australia, and wherever else life has taken you. I work with adults navigating: - anxiety, panic attacks and persistent worry - expat burnout, perfectionism, and the exhaustion of always pushing harder - depression, loss of meaning and purpose - identity crisis, culture shock, relocation and emigration stress - codependency, toxic relationships and emotional dependency - grief, trauma, loss, midlife crisis and life transitions - existential loneliness and spiritual questions My approach draws on a range of evidence-based Western methods, including existential and psychodynamic perspectives, integrated with the depth of the Russian psychological tradition. It is also informed by Christian anthropology and a value-based understanding of the person: the idea that meaning, values, and the search for something larger than ourselves are not obstacles in therapy; they are often the way through. I believe the human being has four dimensions: body, mind, social self, and spirit. Lasting change, in my experience, requires attending to all four. I am not a guru. I am a companion — here to assist, not to lead. If you've always handled things on your own but you're running on empty more and more often perhaps it's time for a conversation with an experienced psychologist who has been living in emigration herself for over 20 years.

Approach

My approach is integrative, drawing on existential and psychodynamic perspectives as well as methods from different psychological paradigms. I believe that every person and situation is unique, so I do not follow a one-size-fits-all formula, instead, I adapt our work to your individual needs, circumstances, values and goals. Together, we explore not only the symptoms or difficulties that brought you to therapy, but also the underlying patterns, relationships, experiences and questions that may be shaping your current situation. My work may include exploring anxiety, emotional dependency, identity, life transitions, loss, trauma and questions of meaning. For people living abroad, I also pay particular attention to the experience of emigration, adaptation, cultural change, loneliness, loss of familiar support and questions of identity and belonging. My aim is not simply to help you cope with a particular problem, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find a way forward that is consistent with who you are and what matters to you. I offer a respectful, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore difficult experiences at your own pace.
