Ms Cheryl Pruss

Clinical Psychologist

I view the therapy as a relationship between myself and my clients. In this relationship, we journey together, with myself as therapist perhaps pointing out some of the pitfalls of the journey. Together we identify destructive patterns, arising from childhood and together, finding ways of moving beyond what is destructive to a more functional way of being in the world.

About Me

I am a clinical psychologist using mostly a psychodynamic paradigm, although I have trained and use other modalities. I work with adolescents (late teens), adults and couples. I address client needs in an integrative way, mostly long term, although I engage in short term treatment as well. I have been practising since 1995 and have therefore had a wealth of experience in mental health. I treat clients with mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, grief, trauma, relationship problems, inter alia.

Approach

Shifting between insight and practical change, sessions are paced to suit your rhythm—sometimes quiet and reflective, sometimes focused and action‑oriented. In my Randburg consulting room or via secure online sessions in English, we track patterns together, name unhelpful cycles, and try small experiments between meetings to test new ways of relating and coping. I balance curiosity with clear steps so therapy feels useful and manageable. People looking for thoughtful, steady collaboration often find this approach helpful.
