Licensed Psychologist,
Neuroscience Msc.Stu.
Teşvikiye, İstanbul.
Hello, I'm Psychologist Cenk Burku Abay. After completing my undergraduate studies in Psychology at Haliç University, I continued my education with a master's degree in Neuroscience at Istinye University. I am on a journey to understand human nature more deeply at the intersection of psychology and brain sciences. Today, I continue this journey by offering ethical, scientific, and reliable psychological support to my clients.
My interest in psychology began with a childhood curiosity about understanding the mental processes behind human behavior. I now nurture this curiosity through both scientific research and individual therapy practices. I gained my clinical experience at esteemed institutions such as Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital, Şişli Etfal, and the French Lape Hospital, where I actively participated in psychological testing (such as MMPI, Rorschach), individual interviews, and psychiatric evaluations.
I also worked as a psychologist at Kum Saati Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, where I supported the social inclusion of disadvantaged individuals and organized informational seminars for families and institutional staff.
My therapeutic approach is primarily based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), for which I hold a Practitioner Certificate from DATEM Psychological Counseling Center. Additionally, I have earned several international certifications that support my development in the field of psychology:
Wesleyan University – Social Psychology
The University of Sydney – Positive Psychiatry and Mental Health
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Positive Psychology
As a professional who values international development, I served on the Student Representative Committee of the Federation of European Societies of Neuropsychology (FESN). In this role, I not only contributed to the development of young colleagues across Europe but also acted as a bridge between neuropsychology students in Turkey and the federation.
I actively took part in scientific research as well. In a TÜSEB-supported study, we investigated the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on cigarette craving and working memory and presented our findings at the 24th National Neuroscience Congress.
Additionally, I worked as a project manager at Biself Academy International Education and Consulting. There, I created psychology-based educational content for individuals and institutions, coordinated international projects, and integrated psychological knowledge with educational technologies.
In my sessions, I aim to help clients develop mental awareness and establish a healthy balance within the thought-emotion-behavior triangle. I adopt a scientific, ethical, and client-centered approach in individual therapy sessions. I see psychological support not merely as a space for solving problems, but as an inner journey where one can reconnect with themselves and discover their mental strength.
If you feel you need a professional by your side on this journey, I would be glad to work with you.
