I am a firm believer that we are the product of all of our experiences, both good and bad, and the individuals whose paths cross with ours throughout our life. This does not mean that our painful past experiences have to dictate and restrict how we live our lives today. We can create education, support and compassion together that allows us to listen to our nervous systems and promote trauma healing. My passion is to support people in finding their strength from different experiences and help to foster positive growth and resilience.

About Me

Hi, Amanda here, pronouns she/her/hers. Originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, I moved to The Netherlands in 2016. I have two Bachelors in Science from Western Carolina University; BS in Psychology & BS in Anthropology. I completed my Master’s in Psychology with an Emphasis in Counseling from Webster Leiden Campus- Webster University in 2018. I have also completed Compassion Inquiry training, have studied Polyvagal and other Somatic techniques to help support my clients. This experience allowed me the opportunity to grow professionally, as well as personally. Having first-hand experience of what being an immigrant truly looks like, I can empathize and understand the hard-ship, frustration and struggles that come with relocating and starting a life in a new environment. As a trauma survivor myself, I continue to go down my journey of healing and as a result bring different techniques and real-life perspective into my sessions with clients.

Approach

Your nervous system becomes our roadmap, and I guide gentle, paced steps that help you notice safety, tolerate intensity and make different choices in daily life. In sessions we use small, manageable exposures alongside grounding, movement and reflective dialogue so progress feels steady rather than overwhelming; between sessions I offer brief, practical practices to reinforce calm and agency. Work is collaborative and tailored to where you are—teen or adult—respecting pace and context in The Hague or online. People who’ve felt stuck by past harm often find this somatic-paced approach helpful.

Basic Information

Services

I provide the option to work with online or in-person (I am in the office (Voorburg) on Mondays and Tuesdays). Working days are Monday- Friday and two Saturdays a month. While my work is based on nervous system/regulation and somatic healing, I also add in other techniques and approaches to fit what you, the client, are interested in. Part of this journey is learning to work together and find that whats for you and what doesn't- there isn't a one size fits all.
