Psychotherapy should foster a better understanding of oneself and of other people and the ability to translate insight into meaningful change. As one will be better equipped to deal with challenges in future, one's general competence and self confidence grows, personal relationships and work life will benefit and one will feel more in control again.

About Me

I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 25 years. Depending on the person my approach would vary. For some more clearly defined problems a short-term practical approach is suitable. I would support the client to deal with his or her difficult situation and to find solutions which will work best in that particular life setting. For more complex issues which have persisted over a long time it is necessary to explore and address the underlying reasons in order to achieve long-term improvement. Therapy should provide a safe and professional space from where to start a journey with the aim to find more balance and greater enjoyment and meaning in life again.

Approach

In my work I combine elements of the systemic and psychodynamic therapy orientations. The systemic approach sees a person in the context of our relationships and present life situation. It aims to utilize our existing resources and uses a variety of practical techniques to work on solutions in the here and now. The psychodynamic approach gives room to explore the underlying internal and external dynamics; how these influence our emotions and behaviour and how our personal history has shaped our personalities.

Basic Information

Services

I see adults for individual short term or long term therapy, whether for crisis management, dealing with acute problems or life change or for personal growth and development. I also work with couples who are going through a difficult time, or who want to affirm their relationship. I also have an interest in families and consult with parents about parenting issues. I have worked with a range of problems, the most common are around depression and anxiety; but often involve relationship or family issues, stress and burnout, a lack of confidence, difficult life choices, trauma, anger management, loss and grief, body image issues, eating disorder, ADHD and women's and men's issues.
