Laura McGuinness

Psychotherapist

As an integrative therapist I combine a number of therapeutic modalities to tailor therapy to your needs in a safe environment.

About Me

I believe therapy is most effective when it truly fits you. As an integrative psychotherapist, I thoughtfully blend different therapeutic approaches to create a unique path forward. This means our sessions are designed around your specific experiences, ensuring a responsive and collaborative space. My aim is for you to feel genuinely heard within a safe environment, exploring what helps you best.

Approach

I focus on how experiences show up day-to-day, helping you notice patterns and make small, practical shifts that feel manageable. In Newcastle upon Tyne I work in English in a calm consulting room where sessions move at a steady, collaborative pace—sometimes reflective and slow, sometimes focused and task-oriented—depending on what you need that week. We explore links between past events and current reactions, gently testing new ways of responding between sessions to build different habits. This approach tends to suit people facing complex losses, trauma or repeated relational challenges.
