This page lists Black Couples Family Therapists in Harare. 3 in all.
That is 3 of the 5 family therapists listed in Harare.
These are practitioners who identify as Black on their profile. It is their own answer to a profile question. We do not check it.
This list answers a request for a practitioner of the same race or ethnicity. Cabral and Smith found the match made almost no difference to treatment outcomes 1.
The request is usually narrower: a practitioner who will name race early, without you having to explain yourself. Some family therapy approaches recommend the therapist raise it near the start 2. You can ask a practitioner how they handle it.
What a family therapist does, and who comes to the sessions
Everyone on this page describes their work as family or systemic therapy. Family therapy helps people in close relationships understand and support each other. It works with the relationships between people, not with one person alone.
Family here means whoever those involved count as family. Sessions usually have more than one person in the room.
A therapist may also meet members on their own. Ask a practitioner who they would want in the room.
If you are afraid of someone in your family, say so to the practitioner before any joint session is booked. Ask to be seen on your own first. The support numbers at the top of this page are for that situation.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Black identity, the specialism recorded as Couples and the professional title family therapist.
The Harare page answers more questions about therapy there.
Who registers therapists in Zimbabwe?
The title you will see is Family Therapist - Counsellor. Search the register by name at Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (AHPCZ). Check that the name and title match and that the entry is current. If they do not, ask the practitioner why.
