This page lists Female Depression Psychotherapists in Amsterdam. 3 in all.
That is 3 of the 4 psychotherapists listed in Amsterdam.
These are practitioners who identify as female on their profile 1. We ask every therapist that question, and they may decline to answer. We do not check the answer, and nothing here is ranked.
This list answers an explicit request for a woman. While many people prefer this, we found no research on whether it changes how the therapy goes.
A client and a practitioner always differ; what matters is what that means to you and how you work with it 2. You can filter the same list by the languages a practitioner works in.
How depression is treated
Effective psychological treatments include behavioural activation and cognitive behavioural therapy 3. Interpersonal psychotherapy and problem-solving therapy are also used.
Effective treatment exists for mild, moderate and severe depression. A depressive episode means low mood, or loss of interest in things you enjoyed. It lasts most of the day, nearly every day, for at least two weeks.
Low mood after a loss or a hard year is not automatically a disorder, though support can help. Ask a practitioner what they would suggest, and why.
What psychotherapy works on, and how long it usually runs
Everyone on this page describes their work as psychotherapy. A psychotherapist works through talking with you about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours 4.
Psychotherapy usually runs longer than counselling and aims for clinical change. It works on patterns that repeat rather than on one current problem.
A psychotherapist trains in psychological treatment rather than in medicine. What that training covers, and which approach a practitioner uses, differ between practitioners. Ask which approach a psychotherapist trained in, and how long they usually work.
What this page filters on
These are the only filters: the practitioner's stated Female identity, the specialism recorded as Depression and the professional title psychotherapist.
The Amsterdam page answers more questions about therapy there.
Who registers therapists in the Netherlands?
The title you will see is Psychotherapeut. Search the register by name at BIG-register (CIBG). A current entry is that body's own published record of the person.
In the Netherlands the protected titles include gezondheidszorgpsycholoog, klinisch psycholoog and psychotherapeut, and each of them requires entry on the statutory healthcare register. See the Netherlands page.
