Suicide hotlines and crisis lines in Kuwait, with every number checked at source. In an emergency, dial 112.

IF YOU ARE IN CRISIS, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, get help now. In Kuwait, dial 112, the national emergency number for police, ambulance and fire. You can also go directly to the emergency unit of the Kuwait Center for Mental Health, which its own site states operates around the clock, or to the emergency department of your nearest hospital. For readers outside Kuwait, there is a worldwide list of emergency numbers and a list of helplines and suicide hotlines worldwide.

A helpline is a place to talk to someone when you are struggling, before or instead of a crisis. Kuwait has no telephone helpline this page can yet name, so the services below are the verified places a person in distress can turn instead: a round-the-clock walk-in emergency unit and a free counselling centre. If you are not in Kuwait, the worldwide list is organised by country.

What you share is kept private in almost all cases; if a counsellor believes a life is in immediate danger, they may arrange urgent help. What each service costs is set out beside it below, because one of the services states that its consultations are free and the other does not publish what its care costs.

TherapyRoute is a directory. We do not answer calls or messages ourselves, so please use the numbers below rather than contacting us if you need someone now.

CRISIS LINES, SUICIDE HOTLINES, AND HELPLINES IN KUWAIT

Each number below was checked in September 2026 at the operating organisation's own website, or at the Kuwaiti government site that runs the service.

Kuwait has no telephone helpline that we could verify at its operating organisation's own page. The Ministry of Health has announced psychological-support services, but the ministry's official pages could not be reached when this page was checked, and we do not print a number we could not read at its source. What is verified is real and open: the Kuwait Center for Mental Health runs an emergency unit around the clock where you can walk in without an appointment, and the Etmaen Centre offers free psychological and social consultations. That is a gap in what can be listed, not a reason to face this alone: the people behind those doors and numbers are there to help you.

112, the emergency number

Kuwait uses a single number for police, ambulance and fire. The Ministry of Interior's own site lists it under "Emergency Contact — Police, Ambulance & Fire".

All emergencies: 112

One number covers all three services; the ministry publishes no separate sector numbers on the page we read.

Kuwait Center for Mental Health, the 24-hour walk-in emergency unit

The Kuwait Center for Mental Health (مركز الكويت للصحة النفسية) is, in its own words, "the only specialised hospital in the State of Kuwait providing comprehensive psychiatric services". It is a hospital, not a helpline, and its place on this page is the walk-in route: its emergency unit receives people without an appointment.

On its own site the centre states that the unit "operates around the clock to receive emergency cases", and its services page repeats that the emergency unit runs 24 hours. The emergency unit is also the route to a first outpatient appointment. Outpatient clinics run in the organisation's own stated hours: mornings 07:30 to 13:00 and evenings 14:00 to 18:00.

Tel: 24621000 (the hospital switchboard; for outpatient appointments, extension 69097)

In person: the centre's emergency unit, open around the clock.

Hours: emergency unit, 24 hours a day, in the organisation's own words. Outpatient clinics, 07:30 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00.

Cost: not published.

Etmaen Centre, free psychological and social consultations

The Etmaen Centre (مركز اطمئن) is run by the Patients Helping Fund Society in cooperation with the Kuwait Center for Mental Health, Ministry of Health. In its own words it is "a centre providing free psychological and social consultation, by experienced specialists, in cooperation with the Kuwait Center for Mental Health – Ministry of Health, and with the support of the General Secretariat of Awqaf."

It receives anxiety, depression, phobias, panic, obsessive-compulsive difficulties, trauma and stress, personality difficulties, marital and family problems, and child and adolescent concerns. It is consultation by booked appointment, not a crisis line: the site routes users to an appointment form and an app. Its one physical centre is in Qadisiya, Kuwait City, and its phone, WhatsApp and app channels are open to anyone.

Tel: 22052150

WhatsApp: 99983424, in the organisation's own words: "by sending a text message (WhatsApp) to the number 99983424".

Email: etmaen@phf.org.kw

Booking: phf.org.kw/etman/appointment_booking (also an iOS and Android app).

Hours: not published. No operating hours appear on the organisation's pages. If you call and no one answers, the emergency number and the walk-in unit above are open at any hour.

Cost: free, in the organisation's own word: "بالمجان", free of charge (the consultations).

While you are waiting to be seen

A consultation service works by appointment, and even an emergency unit can involve a wait. If you are waiting, try to stay with someone you trust, or ask someone to sit with you until you are seen.

If you have anything near you that you could use to harm yourself, put it somewhere harder to reach, or ask someone else to hold it for you. Distance and time both help.

If waiting is not possible, dial 112, or go straight to the Kuwait Center for Mental Health's emergency unit or a hospital emergency department. You do not need an appointment and you do not need to explain yourself well.

If you are worried about someone else

Ask them directly. Asking someone whether they are thinking of suicide does not put the idea there, and it often comes as a relief to be asked plainly.

Listen more than you advise. You do not need the right words, and you are not expected to fix anything.

If they are willing, offer to go with them to the emergency unit, or to sit with them while they call one of the numbers above. If they are in immediate danger, treat it as you would any medical emergency.

Supporting someone through this is heavy, and it is reasonable to want support of your own. The Etmaen Centre's consultations are open to family members bringing marital, family, child and adolescent concerns.

For services in other countries, see the list of helplines and suicide hotlines worldwide.
