Suicide Hotlines and Crisis Lines in Jordan
❝Suicide hotlines and crisis lines in Jordan, with every number checked at source. In an emergency, dial 911, 193 or 199.❞
IF YOU ARE IN CRISIS, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, get help now. In Jordan, dial 911 for the police, 193 for an ambulance, or 199 for the fire brigade. The government's own emergency table also lists 911 for medical emergency services. You can also go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital. For readers outside Jordan, there is a worldwide list of emergency numbers and a list of helplines and suicide hotlines worldwide.
A helpline is a place to talk to someone when you are struggling, before or instead of a crisis. The numbers on this page are answered by helpline staff or by the police, depending on the service. If you are not in Jordan, the worldwide list is organised by country.
What you share is kept private in almost all cases; if a counsellor believes a life is in immediate danger, they may arrange urgent help. What each service costs is set out beside it below, because some of these services publish that they are free and others publish no cost at all.
TherapyRoute is a directory. We do not answer calls or messages ourselves, so please use the numbers below rather than contacting us if you need someone now.
CRISIS LINES, SUICIDE HOTLINES, AND HELPLINES IN JORDAN
Each number below was checked in August 2026 at the Jordanian government's national portal, at the Jordanian National Commission for Women, or at the operating organisation's own website.

Therapy should be personal. Therapists listed on TherapyRoute are qualified, independent, and free to answer to you – no scripts, algorithms, or company policies.
Find Your TherapistJordan has no national mental health or suicide helpline for adults. No such line appears on the government's emergency table, on the Ministry of Health's contact page, or on the National Center for Mental Health's own pages. A national plan to reduce suicide was reported in April 2026, but it names no helpline. What Jordan does publish is listed below: the emergency services, a police department for family violence, a free line for children and families, and a route for refugees. That is a gap in what is available, not a reason to wait: if you are in danger tonight, the emergency numbers above are the route, and a hospital emergency department is open when a helpline is not.

Emergency numbers, and what each one is for
Jordan's national portal publishes one emergency table, and it lists 911 twice. It gives 911 for الشرطة, the police, and the same number for خدمات الطوارئ الطبية, medical emergency services.
Police and medical emergencies: 911
Ambulance: 193
The portal lists 193 separately for الإسعاف, the ambulance service, alongside 911 for medical emergencies. Both appear on the same government table, and neither is corrected here.
Fire brigade: 199
There is no national three digit mental health line in Jordan. None appears on the portal's emergency table, on the Ministry of Health's contact page, or on the National Center for Mental Health's own pages.
Family Protection and Juveniles Department, dial 911 or 196
إدارة حماية الأسرة والأحداث, the Family Protection and Juveniles Department, is part of مديرية الأمن العام, the Public Security Directorate. It is the police department that handles family violence, child protection and sexual assault. It is a police service, not a counselling line, so callers should expect a police response.
The Jordanian National Commission for Women lists its services, which include, in translation, "services for victims of sexual assault (psychological and social support services)" and "services and care for families experiencing domestic violence". The same listing names "family support by specialists" and "forensic medical services in complete confidentiality".
The department has an office in every governorate, so this is a national service.
Tel: 911, the command and control centre.
Tel: 196, the department's main number.
Tel: 06-5815826, the Public Security Directorate switchboard for family protection.
WhatsApp: 0797911911, the department's main WhatsApp number.
One caution on sources. The 911 and 06-5815826 numbers are confirmed on the government portal; 196 and the WhatsApp number appear only on the commission's page, which carries no publication date.
Hours: not published. Neither source states hours, and the department's own website could not be opened when this page was checked.
Cost: not published.
The 110 Family and Child Helpline, for children and families
خط 110 للأسرة والطفل, the 110 Family and Child Helpline, is run by مؤسسة نهر الأردن, the Jordan River Foundation, a non-governmental non-profit founded in 1995. This is a line for children and families facing abuse, not an adult crisis line. It is on this page because it is the one free national helpline Jordan publishes.
The foundation's English page describes the line as "a free service offering support in child and family safety and psychological well being". Its 2024 news page records: "The helpline has dealt with over 100,000 cases since its launch, offering free support and referrals to protect children and families from all forms of abuse, including violence, exploitation, neglect, mistreatment, bullying, and physical assault."
Tel: 110
Hours: not published. No page the foundation controls states when the line is answered.
Cost: free. The foundation's own pages describe the line as offering "free support and referrals".
For refugees in Jordan, the UNHCR Helpline
This entry is for refugees. UNHCR states that "Refugees of all nationalities can call the UNHCR Helpline". It is not open to Jordanian nationals.
In UNHCR's own words: "The UNHCR Helpline (064008000) is a call service provided by UNHCR Jordan which refugees can use to ask any questions or file complaints related to being a refugee in Jordan." It is an information and complaints line with an automated menu, not a counselling or crisis service.
It is, however, the published route into public mental health care for refugees. UNHCR's health page states: "Mental health services are available for refugees registered with UNHCR through specialized mental health centers in Ministry of health facilities." For hospital admission it adds that these are "accessible free of charge for refugees holding a valid UNHCR registration and MOI card (For Syrians only)".
Tel: 06-400 8000
Hours: the automated system is described as "Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week". UNHCR states: "Agents are available from Sunday to Thursday, 8AM to 4PM." It adds: "Emergency calls will be transferred to a Helpline agent immediately."
Cost: in UNHCR's words, "ALL services provided by UNHCR, including registration, are provided for FREE."
Languages: UNHCR describes the line as "offered in three languages: Arabic, English and Somali".
While you are waiting to be answered
Some of the lines above publish no hours, and a line that is open can still be busy. If you are waiting, try to stay with someone you trust, or ask someone to sit with you until the call connects.
If you have anything near you that you could use to harm yourself, put it somewhere harder to reach, or ask someone else to hold it for you. Distance and time both help.
If waiting is not possible, dial 911 or 193, or go to a hospital emergency department. You do not need an appointment and you do not need to explain yourself well.
If you are worried about someone else
Ask them directly. Asking someone whether they are thinking of suicide does not put the idea there, and it often comes as a relief to be asked plainly.
Listen more than you advise. You do not need the right words, and you are not expected to fix anything.
If they are willing, offer to sit with them while they call one of the numbers above, or to make the call together. If a child is at risk, the 110 line exists for exactly that call. If they are in immediate danger, treat it as you would any medical emergency.
Supporting someone through this is heavy, and it is reasonable to want support of your own.
For services in other countries, see the list of helplines and suicide hotlines worldwide.
