Movies that explore, engage, or offer insight into avoidant personality disorder and the social and psychological issues involved.

Human lives and behaviour are far more nuanced and emotive than any psychiatric diagnostic system or symptom checklist can ever portray.

Most people recognise aspects of themselves in at least a few psychiatric diagnostic categories. The difference between normal and disorder is not straight forward and often has more to do with degree rather than kind, i.e. does it cause big problems?

Therapy should be personal. Our therapists are qualified, independent, and free to answer to you – no scripts, algorithms, or company policies.

What is Avoidant personality disorder?

avoidant personality disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis (see abridged DSM-V criteria below) characterised by unreasonable fears of rejection, hypersensitivity to criticism, and extreme shyness.

Some of us sometimes feel shy or awkward in a certain situation. But a person with an avoidant personality disorder is almost always extremely sensitive and avoids social interaction for fear of being humiliated or rejected. They often feel lonely but avoid forming relationships outside of his family.
